Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? The Cotswolds or Bedford NY

What are three words to describe your style? 1. Enduring 2. Authentic 3. Articulate

Tell us about your childhood bedroom?  White painted classically inspired columns, with Chicago grey walls and black and white painted checkerboard floors.  Collections of oddities artfully displayed.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? Jean Charles Moreux oak desk, which my first puppy chewed at the leg.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be?  Sir John Soane

No room is complete without music.

People think of me as social, but I am really a bit aloof.

Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement:  too many varieties and colors

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: more than one type at a time.

  • A bar cabinet: corny glasses.

A song for:

  • Dinner at home:  Cigarettes after Sex.

  • Working at your desk: Strange combo of things…

  • Going for a run: Unspeakably bad stuff

Biggest Vice? Kombucha

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Vintage Ebay items, probably Danish vessels.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how?  Classic, yet casual.

Who is your star crush? Phoebe Mary Waller-Bridge.

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?  Chintz.

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?  Delano and Aldrich

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for?  Curated and precise.
