Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? Sicily

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? 3 walls painted a light pink and striped wallpaper on the 4th wall. It sounds atrocious but for some reason was actually quite pretty

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? Akira pendant light by Alexandre Logé. A whimsical plaster ceiling fixture that the designer named in honor of his first-born child. It brings me joy every time I see it.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be?  Renzo Mongiardino in collaboration with Serge Roche.

No room is complete without a maid.

People think of me as direct, but I am really direct.

Things you omit from:

• A flower arrangement baby’s breath

• An hors d’oeuvre platter who would reject an hors d’oeuvre

• A bar cabinet nothing-  would be adding not omitting

A song for:

• Dinner at home Innocuous lounge music- low volume

• Working at your desk I tend to not like the distraction of music when I have to work at my desk

• Going for a run I don’t do running

Biggest Vice?  Not giving a shit

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Anything from DeVera

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Color and individuality

Who is your star crush? Betelgeuse in the Orion constellation

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?  Down comforters on beds

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?  Stephen Calloway’s  Baroque Baroque

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? Harmony and discretion
