Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? Hmmmm tough one...Port Antonio, Jamaica

What are three words to describe your style?

1. Bold
2. Colorful
3. Fashion-driven

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? Haha I shared with two cousins so there was not much autonomy. The highlight of our decor were the music posters we pasted to the walls.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house?
A buffet and Dining Table from Modloft. Many moons ago that I’ve since gifted to a friend.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Tough one but maybe..Kelly Wearstler for her thought process and Michel Boyd for his exquisite selections.

No room is complete without: Fresh flowers

People think of me as someone who has it all figured out but I am really the biggest procrastinator on the planet.

Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: Roses

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Olives

  • A bar cabinet: Vodka

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: Anything John Legend

  • Working at your desk: Anything early Kanye West!

  • Going for a run: 1990s dancehall music

Biggest Vice? Hershey’s ice cream bar

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Way too many dresses, shoes, sunglasses and costume jewelry.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Lots of prints, oranges, yellows, black, white and gold accessories.

Who is your star crush? Hmmm. Kofi Siriboe is a full snack. Ditto Omari Hardick.

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? Ornate floral drapery/bedding.

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?
The manuscript for the one I’m working on.

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for?
Bold, highly functional with the client’s needs always at the forefront.
