Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? On a beach somewhere beautiful.

What are three words to describe your style?

1. Eclectic

2. Colorful

3. Curated

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? I kept it immaculately clean, even my toy box. And I always painted my walls and my dresser the same color, and I have no idea why I did that back then.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house?  Original art from an artist friend, they were paintings of buddha that I thought were amazing.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be?
I can honestly say that I have no idea.

No room is complete without art.

People think of me as quiet and reserved, but I am really very loud and very open.

Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: Roses

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Shellfish

  • A bar cabinet: Vodka if I can help it

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: 90’s R&B

  • Working at your desk: A Podcast, rarely music.

  • Going for a run: Essence by Wizkid

Biggest Vice? Breyer’s Cookies & Cream

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Sneakers, a recent obsession.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? No.

Who is your star crush? Morris Chestnut, since the 90’s.

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?
Farmhouse style, it’s just not my aesthetic but appreciate it when others do it.

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?
A book of the works of Jeremiah Goodman.

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? Curated stories of color, art, pattern, and texture.
