If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? In the countryside of Italy, preferably Tuscany or Chianti…a vineyard would be a bonus.

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? My family built my childhood home- a log home with a gambrel roof. As a result of the roof line, my bedroom had an angled ceiling that I hit my head on more than once. From an early age I loved being outdoors, and my mom allowed me to adorn my room with artifacts and treasures I acquired.
What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? A Stickley rocking chair I’ve had since college.
In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Sir Edward Lutyens

People think of me as laid back, but I am really quietly noticing everything…every detail, every opportunity and thinking though how the parts work together for the best possible solution.
Things you omit from:
A flower arrangement: roses
An hors d’oeuvre platter: olives…I can’t stand them
A bar cabinet: plasticware

Dinner at home: Joao Gilberto and at our Farm: Watchhouse
Working at your desk: If I’m sketching, there’s a good chance you will hear a mix of Widespread Panic, Jackson Brown, Sturgill Simpson or the Grateful Dead playing loudly from my office.
Biggest Vice? Coffee…specifically an Americano
If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? a vintage Rolex
Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Not at all…
Who is your star crush? John Dutton on Yellowstone (aka Kevin Costner)
What design book do you find yourself going back to again and again? I have a few…Mellor, Meigs & Howe, The Tuileries Vol I & II, English Homes Country Life Series
For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? Thoughtful design based on the past, relevant for the present and ?

Scent: A construction site with fresh dirt and framing material. When I’m at home- fresh cut lavender
