Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? Mount Desert Island already has my heart, but if I could choose a second spot, it would be a thatched roof cottage in the Cotswolds.

What are three words to describe your style? Collected, Timeless, Layered

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? Which one? The pink one with wallpaper borders? The attic room that I painted a combination of blue, turquoise, orange, and lime green? Or the one where my mom and I found THE metal bed frame with a headboard and footboard filled with forged flowers?

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? After my parents took back a pair of previously gifted lounge chairs, we finally had an excuse to purchase their replacements in my favorite Pierre Frey stripe

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Ben Pentreath

No room is complete without a decorative lampshade

People think of me as young, but I am really a grey-haired old lady who likes to go to bed at 8:30pm

Things you omit from

  • A flower arrangement: Roses

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Meat

  • A bar cabinet: Gin

 A song for

  • Dinner at home: The Set Yourself on Fire Album by Stars

  • Working at your desk: We have Third Eye Blind on repeat in the office

  • Going for a run: 90s Hip Hop

Biggest Vice? Haribo Frogs, especially the mini ones

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? A Hinckley picnic boat

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Absolutely. The more pattern, the better! And I always love a layer.

Who is your star crush? Eddie Redmayne

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? Wicker outside

What design book do you find yourself going back to again and again? Shingle Styles by Leland Roth

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? That we capture the essence of the place in which each project resides.
