Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? London

What are three words to describe your style? 1. Joyful 2. Comfortable 3. Timeless

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? White wicker daybed, headboard and tiny desk. Merrimekko bedding and Sisal wall to wall carpeting

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house?  A square English Library table. Seriously wonderful.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Jansen

No room is complete without books.

People think of me as easy going, but I am really focused.

Things you omit from:

1.   A flower arrangement  roses unless home grown

2.   An hors d’oeuvre platter cheese and crackers

3.   A bar cabinet long stemmed wine glasses

A song for:

1.   Dinner at home Crosby Still and Nash

2.   Working at your desk Neil Young

3.   Going for a run I don’t do that

Biggest Vice? Living well

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Antique China. The UK sites are insane and I have just found them. I am in trouble.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? My uniform is crispy cotton and linen solid, striped and block printed dresses. So I would have to say a resounding YES.

Who is your star crush? David Attenborough for sure

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?  Pattern on pattern on pattern

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?  That's too hard but HOUSE and GARDEN'S Book of DECORATING is a real fave.

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for?  Timelessness
