Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? Too many places to just choose one!

What are three words to describe your style?

  • Comfortable

  • Modern

  • Funky

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? My childhood bedroom was pink and girly. It changed throughout the years as I grew up and matured a bit. It became less pink and girly overall and instead was just fun!

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? The first investment piece I ever bought was a work of art by Mel Bochner. I was so excited to invest in a piece of art that I could look at every day and that I loved.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Kelly Wearstler

No room is complete without accessories.

People think of me as a boy mom, but I am really into all girly things (while still being a boy mom!)

Things you omit from

  • A flower arrangement: Anything that is just a filler.

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Nuts

  • A bar cabinet: Any sort of visually ugly bottles.

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: Some sort of 90s mix!

  • Working at your desk: Anything Taylor Swift

  • Going for a run: Kygo

Biggest Vice? Candy, all kinds!

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Any and all clothing

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? I am more experimental with my clothing because I know at the end of the day I can take it off.

Who is your star crush? Ashton Kutcher

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? Matching drapes to the wallpaper

What design book do you find yourself going back to again and again? I am actually obsessed with Pinterest— it is so nice to have a variety of inspiration at your fingertips.

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? For standing the test of time and being warm and comfortable for everyone to enjoy.
