Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? Palm Springs

What are three words to describe your style?

1. Curated

2. Luxurious

3. Layered

Tell us about your childhood bedroom?  When I was ten I took all the maps from my dad’s decades of National Geographics and covered my walls and ceiling with them so I felt like I was living inside a globe.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? I bought a walnut cabinet from Niall Smith for my first apartment entry – it’s in my dressing room now.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Alberto Pinto

No room is complete without books.

People think of me as a partier, but I am really a homebody.

Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: Baby’s breath

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Sausage

  • A bar cabinet: Gin

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: George Michael Freedom 90

  • Working at your desk: George Michael Freedom 90

  • Going for a run: George Michael Freedom 90

 Biggest Vice? Shoes.

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Art on 1st Dibs.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how?  I wear black t-shirts 90% of the time and my personal apartment is black – so I guess so!

Who is your star crush? Brenton Thwaites.

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?
Use a Pierre Jeanneret cane chair.

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?
Alberto Pinto Moderns because it was given to be me by my old boss and mentor Greg Jordan before he passed.

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? Longevity
