Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? London.

What are three words to describe your style?

1. Luxe

2. Curated

3. Masculine

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? My childhood bedroom was full of antiques, with deep green walls and inherited swag drapes.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? A Ralph Lauren-esque Chesterfield sofa.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Steven Gambrel

No room is complete without flowers.

People think of me as all American, but I am really more Euro inspired.

Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: Too much filler. Just focus on the blooms!

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Smelly cheese

  • A bar cabinet: Ice tongs. Who does one piece at a time? :)

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: Frank Sinatra “Just One of Those Things”

  • Working at your desk: The Police “Every Little Thing She Does “

  • Going for a run: Janet Jackson “Rhythm Nation”

Biggest Vice? Carbs :)

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Some vintage chairs from Italy or France.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? When not being covid lazy, they do. Tailored, with a hint of Ralph Lauren, and definitely Italian shoes.

Who is your star crush? Chris Hemsworth

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? Very traditional drapery.

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?
Vogue Living: Houses, Gardens, People

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? Classic pieces and beautiful textiles.
