Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? Nosara, Costa Rica

What are three words to describe your style?

1. Bold

2. Modern

3. Playful

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? It was a room fit for a princess, or at least that’s what my parents told me! They purchased a stunning, traditional mahogany framed bed during a trip to London and told me it once belonged to a young princess. The walls were adorned with some serious 80’s wallpaper, it was all very girly… maybe why I’ve embraced a more masculine, edgy style over time.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? After I dove into the design business, my first major investment piece for my house was a beautiful Oushak rug.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Frances Merrill of Reath Design

No room is complete without warmth of color.

People think of me as independent, but I am really vulnerable… I love being with my people.

Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: Red Roses

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Blue Cheese

  • A bar cabinet: Solo Cups

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: Anything from Rod Stewart’s discography

  • Working at your desk: Tedeschi Trucks Band Radio

  • Going for a run: Ramble On by Led Zeppelin

Biggest Vice? Pasta, rock and roll concerts, shopping, tequila, all the good stuff! There’s never a way to narrow it down to just one!

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy?
1st Dibs lighting from Paris

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Absolutely – anything I throw on feels bold and modern, but it HAS to be comfortable.

Who is your star crush? Heath Ledger

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? Roman shades in the bedroom.

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?
Kelly Wearstler’s latest book, I can’t get enough of the bold materiality.

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for?
 Good vibes!!
