Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? In a saltbox by the sea.

What are three words to describe your style?
1.
Client-centric
2. Bespoke
3. Humorous

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? I remember my childhood bedroom being mostly white with an apple green door. Lots of light wood furniture.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? A round ‘Jellyfish Eyes’ limited edition Takashi Murakami print from Marianne Boesky Gallery…

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Madeleine Castaing.

No room is complete without humor.

People think of me as crazy and colorful, but I am really able to work in any ‘style’.

 Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: Baby’s breath

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Any peppers

  • A bar cabinet: Pre-made syrups

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: C’est si bon’ Eartha Kitt

  • Working at your desk: ‘It’s my house’ Diana Ross

  • Going for a run: ‘Freedom’ George Michael

Biggest Vice? Super dirty martinis with blue-cheese olives.

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy?
Tramp art frames on Ebay.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how?
Yes. Good quality, patterns, color and a good base, as in shoes.

Who is your star crush? Cher.

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? There is really nothing I wouldn’t do…

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?
A Year at Clovebrook Farm

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for?
The client-centric part and the humor…
