Patti Woods
If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? The Trastevere neighborhood in Rome!
What are three words to describe your style?
Curated
Thoughtful
Always evolving
Tell us about your childhood bedroom? I grew up sharing a bedroom with my two older sisters, so it was always pretty cramped. Most of the time I was daydreaming about a room entirely my own and how I would design it!
What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? This was the early 80s, and I spent months and months researching the perfect sofa. I ordered it from a local retailer, it was eight way hand tied, kiln dried, and lasted more than 30 years. I finally sold it in 2017 but it was still in great condition!
In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Rose Uniacke
No room is complete without good lighting.
People think of me as quiet, but I am really just listening and daydreaming!
Things you omit from
A flower arrangement: Red roses
An hors d’oeuvre platter: Nothing. More is more!
A bar cabinet: Just the cheap stuff:)
A song for
Dinner at home: Here I Am (Come And Take Me) - Al Green
Working at your desk: Chopin: Nocturnes (the entire album)
Going for a run: In the Image - Beverly Glenn-Copeland, an instant mood lifter
Biggest Vice? Worrying
If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Anything from Azlee! Specifically, her charm necklaces, but all of her work is incredible.
Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Somewhat… It’s become more and more minimalist through the years, but I learned a long time ago that you get what you pay for. Quality fabrics and good construction make all the difference (in clothes and interiors).
Who is your star crush? Pedro Pascal…what’s not to love?
What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? Nothing yet!
What design book do you find yourself going back to again and again? Charlotte Perriand: Inventing A New World
For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? That it was enduring
